Making costumes isn't just for Halloween

When you have a lot of down time. Making costumes with things you have around the house can really keep the kids busy. Not to mention exercising their creative side.

My daughter made this costume almost all on her own during the summer. We paraded her around to the neighbors. They loved it. Halloween in June.

Ghostly porch

This is an easy and quick craft to do with all ages.

Items Needed

brown paper bags
white paint
black marker
small balled up newspaper
small thin rope or string

First, paint both sides of the paper bag white. Paint one side, then once it's dried, paint the other side. Once both sides are painted and dried, fill the top part of the bag with small balled up paper. Then get a small string or rope and tie it around the ghost's waist. Use the marker to add the face. Now you have a little ghost to hang up for a Halloween scare.

Dramatic halloween window decoration

This is a quick and fun halloween project you can do with the kids.

Items needed

cardboard
pencil
orange and black paint
scissors or box cutter
yellow tissue paper
tape

First you need to get enough cardboard that will cover the entire window. Once they are sized to your window,
tape the cardboard pieces together. Next lay it on a flat surface. Now its time to draw your pumpkin face with a pencil. Once the face is drawn, use the black paint to color the eyes, eyebrows and teeth. Next color the rest of the pumpkin orange. Once the paint has dried you can cut the eyes, nose and mouth out. For the eyes, be sure to leave a small triangle at the bottom of the eye. Now tape the yellow tissue paper on back of the eyes, nose and mouth. Your pumpkin creation is done. Hang from the inside of your window. Make sure the room the window is in has lots of light so the eyes, nose and mouth will shine through the tissue. Go outside to see your spooky window decoration.
